what is storytelling and storying?
storytelling
Storytelling is simply the oral tradition of telling and writing stories to a listening audience. Thomas Boomershine, in his book Storytelling Journey, states, "to laugh and to cry, to be deeply moved and to get so involved that you have to know how the story came out in the end - that is storytelling. You get to know other people and you get to know yourself. And the stories you remember and tell to others become best gifts you have to give...People become the stories they love to tell."
storying
Storying is a unique, discussion-centered approach to teaching the Bible that uses imagination, active listening, participatory retellings, and communal exegesis that places the student into the heart of the God's story. In this art, the audience participates with the story, instead of simple listening to it. It inspires students, as they interact with the word of God, to live out the story in their own life and be transformed more closely to the image of Christ.
